IN THEIR WORDS
Trusted by Those Who Know Her Work
Dawn’s work is known for the rare combination of deep dementia expertise, practical guidance and genuine compassion. Hear from the professionals, organizations and families who have experienced the difference she brings to dementia care.
Dawn Platt is one of the most gifted dementia professionals I have ever met and worked with—deeply knowledgeable, and even more deeply compassionate. I will never forget watching her at a conference when an exhibitor began to struggle and no one understood why. Dawn recognized immediately what was happening, sat with him in his swing on the exhibit floor, and quietly helped him find his calm. That is who she is: a nationally recognized dementia expert, trainer and coach. With more than 30 years of experience, she specializes in person-centered memory care, therapeutic programming, training staff and family caregivers, and advocating for senior memory care legislation—bringing both skill and heart to the families, staff and organizations who need her.
Dawn Platt brings a complete understanding of dementia and memory care that few people can match. She was my trusted partner for Florida Senior Living Association’s memory care advocacy efforts, accompanying me during face-to-face meetings with bill sponsors and other key legislators. Dawn helped ground those discussions in what the proposed legislation would actually mean for residents, families, and providers. Her credibility and expertise made those conversations more practical and useful - and helped lead to passage of a memory care specialty license for Florida’s assisted living facilities.
Dawn never took over. Instead, she helped us communicate more effectively, ask better questions, anticipate what might come next, and remain focused on Dad and what mattered most to him. The strongest recommendation I can give is this: I began the process believing that hiring Dawn was an unnecessary expense, but I came away convinced that her guidance was an investment in our entire family and money well spent. During an extraordinarily difficult chapter, Dawn helped us navigate both the practical and emotional realities of our father’s decline. Most importantly, she helped us move through the experience together as sisters. For that, I will always be grateful. I wholeheartedly recommend Dawn to any family facing the decline of a parent or loved one. When families are overwhelmed by difficult decisions, distance, and emotion, having the right person beside them can make an enormous difference. She was that person for us.
